HOW DID OPERABOOK START?

Operabook was created in 2020 in direct response to Opera Europa members’ need for an independent, non-commercial, reliable search and casting tool. At the initiative of Opera Europa’s General Assembly and Artistic Administration forum, a working group of artistic administrators, casting directors, and artistic directors from leading opera houses helped define the platform’s features, guiding developers at IT4Culture to create a professional resource for the opera community.

Operabook is a not-for-profit initiative coordinated by Opera Europa in collaboration with partner organisations, including artist management networks that help maintain accurate representation data.

The database continues to grow in depth and scope, and ongoing development is guided by feedback from members and users to ensure it remains a useful, up-to-date professional resource.
